BIO COMING SOON

akiya is a Counselor-in-Training at Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania, where she’s pursuing a degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Her approach to therapy is all about flexibility, meeting each client where they are and adjusting her techniques to fit their unique needs. She’s particularly focused on helping people navigate Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, PTSD, and the life transitions of adolescents and young adults.
Takiya is passionate about breaking down the stigma around mental health, especially in BIPOC communities, and believes that seeking support should never be seen as strange, weak, or “uncool.” She’s all about normalizing mental health care and reminding people that taking care of yourself is essential.
One of her favorite mantras is: “When you’re on a plane, they always tell you to put on your own oxygen mask before helping others.” Takiya believes the same goes for self-care and mental health—if you don’t take care of yourself first, you can’t show up fully for others.
