Damaris Vanderhall, LCSW

(she/her/hers)
Co-founder and Therapist

Damaris is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who prides herself on her ability to meet clients exactly where they are in their journey. Whether you are struggling with a severe and persistent mental health disorder or looking to work through a tough period in your life, she adapts to your needs.

Damaris is certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and specializes in transforming thought processes and behaviors to enhance life satisfaction. She recognizes that life isn’t just black or white, and embraces a “gray point of view.” She teaches distress tolerance, supporting clients to cope with difficult emotions.

Drawing from her own experiences as a Black therapist, Damaris empathizes with the challenges individuals face in acknowledging their need for mental health support, particularly within the Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) community where stigma can be pervasive.

Damaris has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Cedar Crest College (1998) and later obtained a Masters of Social Work from Kutztown University in 2010. Throughout her career, she has worked with clients with various challenges including depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, communication hurdles, and substance use disorder (their own or their loved ones). She believes that each opportunity to collaborate with a client is a privilege, and is grateful for their trust in allowing her to support them on their journey towards personal growth and fulfillment.

“I embrace using DBT skills personally, professionally, as well as empowering and educating my clients to be more effective with use of DBT”
